Pros
A recognizable name and fair to decent benefits are a plus for IBM. There are good, intelligent people to find as mentors at a company of this size. Nevetheless, It's very easy to fall through the cracks here and coast along with little notice from management. A good first job for those fresh out of school looking for a big name to boost their resume.
Cons
Constant threat of layoffs. IBM is moving many of their jobs offshore with little regard to their US based workforce. Red tape, complicated internal processes and little focus on the welfare of the employee make IBM a living example of a Dilbert cartoon. Often times, the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.
