Pros

Work Life Balance & Flexibility are the key feature why people stay with IBM. The people are what's best about the company. Opportunities for learning.

Cons

Office politics and lots of red tape. Salaries are always lower than market competitors. Bonus structure seems ad-hoc at best. Limited opportunities for growth.

Pros

Diverse domains, technologies, people, culture help foster the growth of employees, work life balance options

Cons

Very difficult to change technologies, different projects work in isolation, lots of leaders without much direction to the teams, too much of emphasis on watson with few less results.

Pros

- Diverse opportunities. - Many locations to work in. - Lots of in-house technology available to pick from. - Some skilled individuals to work with. - The company will take care of its employees. In cases of natural disasters they are on top of things and ready to help. There is near 0 chance of discrimination of any kind, this is not something that IBM messes around with. - Many experts available to consult in just about any area of technology, and business. -

Cons

- Poor technical leadership, too many promotions to higher level technical positions that are based on politics, friendships, side-deals, and based on upper management perceived "success". Many high level technical folks manage up and are disconnected with the folks under them providing no real technical leadership for the ones doing the real work. - Too much focus on dates, time-to-market. This trumps quality of the products, solutions, and services. BAD. The company is very large, so this tends to be driven by the culture established by the executives responsible for the various areas. - Many in management think a head count is a head count, they don't understand skill levels.
