Pros

The pay at IBM Canada seems to be about at par with current market salaries. You also have many opportunities to develop and work with cool and ground breaking products. If you enjoy a challenge and want to work in a stimulating environment, IBM is the place to be.

Cons

People tend to be hired into management generally due to their seniority and not necessarily due to their skills. This does create an ideal meritocracy, which I believe would be the better platform for promotion. This creates managers that are not suited for their position; they may have been great coders but may not necessarily be suited for a management role.

Pros

It's a large company with lots of talented people - a great place to learn in almost any field in the industry.

Cons

The company is too bureocratic. I always had the feeling the IBM is just too large, and the management tries to play always on the safe side, never getting into risky investments, which sometimes means bleeding edge projects and great ideas getting cancelled.

Pros

The best reasons to work for IBM is the flexible working environment. There are flexible work hours, which means you can come in when you want, and leave when you want, as long as you get your work done. Also, most managers will let you work remotely from home from time to time. The floater holidays are especially great to have in the summer. It is a friendly community with many extracurricular clubs, sports, activities. IBM promotes higher education through IBM-paid courses and reimbursement for graduate school. There are many opportunities to grow or change careers within IBM.

Cons

- No overtime pay - Strict performance evaluations - Very competitive environment (can be good and bad)
