Pros

Smart people, challenging projects, name recognition of your company. It can be a fun place to be, and you see a lot of useful information that comes across the transom almost accidentally. If you hunt, you can find some info that just isn't available anyplace else.

Cons

The smart people aren't always where you are, the challenging projects aren't, either. There's a lot of grunt labor that has nothing to do with the stuff that generates the name recognition. Pay isn't very good unless you're a star. The sense is that senior management is running scared, and their paternal style doesn't allow them to frankly ask for help. They do try, but only intermittantly.
