Pros

IFRC offers very good pay and benefits and there are many very nice people who you will work with. Good intentions, excellent brand reputation, earnest and dedicated individuals. Independence and mission driven individuals maintain a focus on delivering important assistance around the world.

Cons

The Red Cross / Crescent Movement is very insular. Most employees have worked their entire careers within the movement and have not been exposed to other work place realities. "This is the way we've always done things" permeates the IFRC which means their are many worst-practices in effect and no knowledge of solutions to common problems.

Pros

Great mission and mandate and possibility to contribute to a great cause. Excellent pension fund.

Cons

Very toxic environment, passive aggressive behaviors. Management is not held accountable and poor performers are simply recycled within the organization if they know the right people in Geneva.
