Poor management

Pros

I've been at IMS for a few years. Decent pay, vacation time and perks. There are some very talented people here.

Cons

The workload is so unbalanced that you can't even take advantage of the company perks offered for work/life balance. Management has no regard for their employee's personal time and expects them to do whatever it takes to get the work done after hours (on a consistent basis) and shows absolutely no appreciation for the extra efforts. I have never felt so unvalued in my entire career, and unmotivated. Managers could use some basic people management training because they are lacking. They do nothing to motivate employees. The unprofessionalism I have seen is unbelievable for a company this size, and even within HR. They only care about themselves and senior management, and manage their employees by bullying them.

Was a great job, 2014 downgraded to a good job

Pros

Quinitles is growing and is expanding/hiring in specific areas. Quintiles has money to get things done when they are needed. Executive Management is not running their CRO business into the ground. They are constantly looking for new ways to expand market share and make money.

Cons

Things have gone from great to good because: They went to "sweatshop seating" and crammed everyone in RTP into two buildings. Benefits are disappearing (PC purchase plan, etc.) Layoffs happen throughout the year and people are starting to be afraid that it can happen to them at any time.

Getting out of hand

Pros

- many good people to work with - flexibility with doctor appts and working from home if needed, on occasion

Cons

- the workload has gotten out of hand and compensation does not increase with it. you are lucky to get a 2% raise every year, even if you are a good worker. - unrealistic deadlines - upper management simply does not care about its employees. they just keep taking perks away (i.e. summer fridays, no longer have private cubicals, etc) and making more rules without giving anything in return - as a result of above, employee morale is at an all-time low - offshoring many jobs - losing good employees
