Pros

You work alongside some of the best people. Infosys is very particular about hiring the best people and this ensures that the best minds are at work here. Lots of opportunities to learn and grow. You can learn about new technology and work on anything that excites you. You can always speak your mind fearlessly. The management makes a lot of effort to communicate with everyone. They take a lot of pains to communicate the policies clearly. A very open-door culture where hierarchy is almost absent. You get to discuss and decide where you want to go. A well respected company in India and saying you work for Infosys always makes people think you are bright :)

Cons

Strict and rigid policies. The offices in most Infosys development centres are very far from the city, so you must be ready for a long commute. If you are keen on work-life balance, then Infosys is not the place for you. Depending on the project you work on, your work-life balance can tip either way. No work from home facility. Women employees find it difficult to cope. The work timings are 9 hours and 15 minutes everyday and your work time is strictly monitored. Add the commute time to that and you could be spending anywhere between 12 to 14 hours away from home. From being a very employee friendly company this company has now slipped to being a very difficult to work for employer. It's a huge company and so associated red-tape and other problems.

Pros

Infosys was a great opportunity for a recent college grad. They are a big company and I ended up spending 6 months in a very nice campus in India, and this was an amazing experience that I'd recommend to any post-college job seeker. Pay and benefits were comparable to other job offers I had received, and way higher then the averages for liberal arts majors who also were hired on for their training program. The company has vast resources and well stocked information libraries and references. It is a good name to have under your belt and it is certainly an international experience.

Cons

Infosys is plagued with bureaucracy. Because it is a large company, one often feels like a number rather than a person. All too often, coworkers do not recognize the difference between knowing something and knowing of something. Even though my position was Software Engineer after the initial training I would be placed in a business analyst role. This is not what I went to school for and there is little room for non Indians to practice their technical skills. Having history, business, and com majors fill the same position as CS grads and calling them all software engineers is slightly demoralizing from a bachelor of Science's perspective. There is no guaranteeyou will be assigned to your preferred office when returning to the USA
