Terrible leadership, great people on the ground

Pros

People on the ground supporting eachother through awful leadership.

Cons

Before Intact took over, RSA was a beautiful place to work. People were proud to work for them. It was inclusive, trusting, flexible, caring. Intact have stormed in like something out of 1991 and ripped the heart out of the company. The employees are left reeling and do not feel listened to or cared for. There's a great deal of weight on Canada being able to come over and storm over ideas without having a grasp on the UK business, and no opportunities for the reverse. It's a militant approach from the new Canadian exec and the UK exec seems to just ask "how high?" People are suffering, overworked, underpaid and scared because it feels like there is a constant cycle of redundancies for the sake of trying to show "change". The harsh approach to working in the office is unfair and stressful when they don't have the desk space for people to be in the number of days they are meant to. It's laughable. People are perching on toadstools so they don't get threatened with disciplinaries for not being in the office.

Pros

perfect for those who are obedient without questions, relishing earning well below market average, thriving in a narcissistic environment and dashing about like headless chickens

Cons

- Salary is significantly below market average. - Almost all experienced and talented middle and senior management have left. Their replacements lack experience and pragmatic strategic thinking needed to retain business or win new business. - Poor reputation in the market, implying the business outlook inevitably continues to decline. - Extremely high turnover. In one team, every single new hire had jumped ship within a year. - Toxic & narcissistic work culture. In several teams, around half of the staff have received mental health diagnosis, which speaks volumes about the environment

Pros

Great teams on employees - the worker bees Good social events. Great location for office space Interesting work and massive scale of change

Cons

Office lacks adequate desk sitting even though you’re required to come in three times a week. Most restful thing about working here. Incompetent people leaders - even if your the best in your field and achievement all your objectives they’ll try to move the goalposts. Lack of psychological safety - hard work and true dedication is never rewarded - best come and go they don’t care. Short term vision - use of India resources through external consultancies which produce low quality work. Blame games are played and disguised as accountability. Lack of support of leaders - never an open and honest discussion always some behind the scene cooperate game. Hate to be challenged about bias and ways of working - very complex team structures within business hard to get to root or key benefits. No HR - if you have a senior management person against you, your out.
