Pros

World class products and technology. Resources to invest in interesting projects. Many great people. True integrity as an organization.

Cons

You are expected to work like you are in a crisis - all the time. Your manager has too much control over your career and life. Only ~50% of the employees actually add value or generate revenue - the rest spend their time communicating, updating and justifying what they are doing - all at a "Type A" frenetic pace. You are responsible for your own employability (which is OK) but the company really has no idea what skill they will need beyond ~ 6 months. Consequently, they lay off existing employees and then hire the skills that are needed for today. Very wasteful and demoralizing.

Pros

Better than being unemployed. Free drinks in the cafe. The people are generally nice. The managment could be more clueless but not by much since they are approching absolute zero.

Cons

Insane pressure to meet ridiculous schedules set by incompetent managers. The bathrooms in C7 are too small and smell pretty bad. The new cube configuration is a mess, the walls are so low there is no privacy. Low moral due to long hours and poor T-Comp. Most employees would leave if given a similar job at another company. The stock options are worthless. Sub par employees are made managers because of the people then know or of the pictures they have.

Pros

Intel upper management has tried hard the last couple of years to genuinely listen to and act upon employee concerns and suggestions. Things do seem to be changing for the better since the previous downsizing in an attempt to create a leaner and faster responding company. Intel also has some really good benefits in addition to competitive salaries.

Cons

Intel is a large company and as such suffers some of the same politic type issues that all large companies seem to share. Although management is trying to streamline processes, it is fairly slow to implement them, although it is happening slowly. Sometimes I think that Intel is relying too much on certain types engineering job functions offshore. This leads to some awkward meeting times as well as some quality issues that could have been avoided by doing the functions locally.
