Pros

The work-life balance is phenomenal. There are lots of older employees with families and Intuit really respects their needs and desires to spend time with those that matter most. The result is a culture that is very open to allowing their employees to get their work done in the way that makes the most sense for that particular employee.

Cons

I think the demographic at Intuit is a bit dated and slow to change. I haven't really worked anywhere else for a long time, so I don't have any great comparisons, but everyone claims Intuit has a strong focus on development and feedback. While that may be true, I sometime question the quality of feedback given, and question what will happen with the honest feedback I provide. Will anyone take it seriously? Will it be to my disadvantage to provide constructive criticism? Also, the Intuit culture claims to be less political, but like all businesses the bureaucracy is still there.

Pros

Intuit recognizes outstanding performance, but they also recognize the ability to think outside of the box. So it's not just people who slog long hours who get recognized, but it also means recognition to those that can cut costs and increase efficiencies. They also provide avenues for pursuing areas of interest, they really don't put roadblocks to stop you, nor pigeon hole you into a job.

Cons

Typical issues that surround a shrink-wrap software company. Add the complexity and timeliness of tax rulings, and it can be rather busy from Halloween to New Year's Eve, and obviously through April 15.

Pros

It has great benefits and trys to make an effort towards work-life balance. It used to be much better. It is also trying to move into newer technologies. Has good revenue base from market leading products Quickbooks, TurboTax and Quicken.

Cons

There are some good places to be and some not so good. The environment is gettiing very toxic and fearful at least in our part of the ocean as any negative feedback about the work is taken as an indictment of management and then on you are under the microscope. People who keep quiet are being rewarded and people who speak up are given the silent or not-so-silent treatment. Co-workers are great , the products are good but the new crop of management hired in the last few years is very short term oriented and prone to knee jerk reactions. New People often ask me as to "how come it rates so high on the great place to work survey?" My response is that - it really used to be.
