Pros

The people make the work environment exciting. The management usually believes in their people and lets them contribute and make things better. You're fully supported in trying new things, whether its software design principles, project meeting styles, or whatever.

Cons

Our division's management has become a little blurry lately. Its hard to see the forward vision. We're driving harder and maybe aren't quite feeling the full support of management.

Pros

Strong core values, generally pretty open communication from senior management. You can still feel some of the presence of Scott Cook's original vision. Benefits packages is excellent, including lots of vacation. Good work/life balance, and the values, when lived up to, are first class. Change is constant, which can be good: avoids stagnation, fiefdoms, etc. Always new things going on.

Cons

Outsourcing - this doesn't fit in with Intuit's core values (#3 Its the people), but rather than openly deal with the issue, it has become a taboo topic. Every time another job is outsourced, they say it is a "business decision", which has become code for "it saves us money". Don't dare ask about it, though. Layoffs - Steve Bennett came from GE and brought the annual and semi-annual layoffs. This too doesn't fit in with the Intuit values. Steve has left, but the layoffs live on. If you want to dump the bottom 10% of your employees, it would be more honest to fire them for poor performance (Intuit value #1, Integrity without compromise).

Pros

Relaxed environment and dress code. Support of work-life balance. Everyone is free to contribute their ideas to anyone at any level. Quarterly Q&A with CEO where all questions are answered.

Cons

Not as well known outside of the software industry. Seems to have big ideas but a little slow in executing. Sometimes people are reticient to just make a decision and move forward and learn. It also seems like there are more decision makers (i.e. managers, product managers, etc.) compared to the people who create the products (engineers). Starting to outsource support/engineering in some groups and quality is often poor.
