Pros

Several extremely talented and competent executives have recently been hired. The hope is that it is not already too late for even their efforts to turn the ship around. They have a very important yet challenging task ahead of them: saving SciQuest by eliminating Destructive Bungling.

Cons

Various members of the old guard do everything in their power to deflect attention from problems within their own areas by attempting to actively sabotage other areas of the organization. This element of the organization is stuck in an outmoded mindset that is incompatible with success in the present day. SciQuest has no chance prevailing against competitors if it is bitterly warring within. Morale at rock-bottom levels. What used to be a lively, vibrant, and familial environment became a soul-sucking, depressive, anxiety-inducing gloom. The quality of productivity is proportional to the quality of morale. The organization has extreme difficulty hiring into certain roles/groups given the shocking dependence on various archaic technologies. Further, the organization is prone to wasting an unprecedented amount of time and resources by, in many cases, developing its own internal, proprietary technologies instead of leveraging existing industry-standard open-source solutions. Poor acquisition implementation. Some of SciQuest's acquisitions were mistakes and should never have been made. Others were fantastic acquisitions, but SciQuest has a proven track-record of methodically destroying much of what made these acquired organizations great. In certain cases, these acquired organizations were made to suffer regressions in terms of less mature business process, less mature methodologies, and less mature technologies. Various members of senior management are prone to frequently dressing down and humiliating individuals by public outbursts of screaming at the top of their lungs. These temper tantrums are unprofessional, childish, and disrespectful. The organization simply cannot retain top talent. It's hemorrhaging key employees, many of which had been with the organization for many years. The attrition rate is truly staggering. Accordingly, various areas are at extreme risk of a total loss of business continuity. Attrition is extremely contagious.
