      Pros

      Great career starter. The people you work with.

      Cons

      Most of the managers have no idea what is going on during the audit. They will come in the week before sign off and tell you to change a million things you already brought to there attention before. Managers are more concerned about staying under their budget than ensuring the safety of their staff. No work life balance. If you are a commuter, good luck ever having time to yourself. Can get scheduled on a busy client for a full year while others only get the typical 1 or 2 busy clients. The explanation you’ll get is “it happens”.

      Pros

      - Great culture - Consulting firm that treats you like a human - Engaging and variable work - Lots of support from management and peers - Great benefits (insurance, vacation, 401k, etc) - Not as stringent hierarchy (for a large corporation) - Strong mentoring program - Room for advancement for motivated individuals - Good salary - Ability to work remotely

      Cons

      - Longer hours depending on project (more than 40 hours) - Somewhat conservative approach to tech/solution adoption (This is not a huge problem, but I believe rather a symptom of any large organization.) - In the process of building tech resources. (Good and bad. Lots of opportunity, but less direct guidance.)

      Pros

      Able to work with colleagues that are your age. Be exposed to multiple large scale engagements. The amount of stress on the job teaches you how to manage and deal with people. Soft skills that you gain from managing your superiors and your client definitely a plus.

      Cons

      Presence of backstabbing culture among higher management and prejudice when it comes to promotion. Remuneration is low, work-life balance is a myth. Unrealistic job allocation during the peak period. Toxic working culture and a negative vibe is in the air on a day to day basis. You’ll find co-workers mired in conflict. When they’re not one-upping each other, they withdraw back to their corners and don’t speak. Others fuel the gossip mill, riffing on each other’s outfits, presence when they are not seen in office. Engagement managers take short cuts and trade in gray areas when booking associate for engagements, with little regard for their welfare. (Ghost booking) Higher management often lie, blame, conceal, and confuse their employees with the promise of a better work life balance just so to avoid their day of reckoning.
