Pros

You will be able to take the skill set you learned from school and directly apply it. Pay is somewhat competitive, may need to negotiate If you want to stick yourself in one speciality this is the best place to be Job security Decent benefits Overtime is always optional but obviously implied if needed

Cons

Management varies, in my department, they always advocated for us and it was appreciated, some not so much. Mainly I just cannot stand some older employees. Being younger in the laboratory comes with its difficulties not because of the work but just politics. Depending on your department you don’t have to worry about this
