      Stingy Company/Unrealistic Expectations

      Pros

      Smart, knowledgeable, honest, hardworking Engineers.

      Cons

      Management does not like to spend money but will spend just enough to stay competitive. Without promotion good luck getting more than a 3% raise per year; hardly enough to keep up with the rate of inflation or the expensiveness of the Bay Area. This is a company that tries to do more with less. Meaning more work for the employees with less resources and less pay.

      Pros

      The engineers are great people. They are hard working, intelligent, and friendly.

      Cons

      -Management does not respect their employees. They put their shareholders and themselves first before considering the impact to the employees. They are slave drivers without any empathy. -Limited resources are available for a growing company and expanding lab. This is why engineers suffer - because they have to use what little resources are available - and they do the work of 3 people.

      A company worth your investment

      Pros

      Lam puts lot of value on employee, while facing intensive completion in semi industry Lam is not driven solely by profitability or shareholder value like many other high tech companies. Lam rewards employee for their performance with a human touch. From my interaction with my peers and mangers, I feel not pressured to do my best but the motivation comes from my inside. Lam has done very well on technology and market side, which is reflected in the profitability the company achieved and shared with its employees. At this fast pace age, Lam is a company worth one's investment for personal and career growth.

      Cons

      Food quality in the café is not up to the same tier high technology company standard.

      Thank you for your review. We are proud of our employees and value their contributions to the success of our company. Continuous Improvement and Open Communication are two of our core values, and we really appreciate your input regarding the café as this will allow us to serve our employees better. We have comment cards available in the Café for suggestions, and a yearly survey which gathers employee input. Based on information gathered from those sources, we added more Vegetarian options to our daily menu as well as more healthy options to our Deli and the Salad Bar. We appreciate all feedback aiming to improve employee satisfaction. - Lam Research
