Lam - just another AMAT?

Pros

1. Excellent sabbatical plan (6 weeks every 5 years) 2. Excellent vacation time. Not the typical PTO Vacation/Sick time all in one that is popular at a lot of other companies 3. High level of competence in the engineering and field service staff.

Cons

1. Excessive layoffs. Large layoffs usually occur every 3-4 years. 2. Some high level managers are less than ethic/moral. Upper level management seems to have a blind eye to ethical/moral slips of other high level management while expecting high expectations from mid and lower level employees.

Great place to work when things are good but when things are bad....

Pros

WHen things are great everyone is happy. Raises are usually good, profit sharing RSUs and good times. Training is big, people are happy. Life span is short.

Cons

When things are bad. Benefits are cut. Sabatical was cut, 5 % pay decrease, 22 % layoffs. Layoffs way too political. They keep the cheapest people no matter how bad they are. They call it head count reduction because you are just a number to them.
