Pros

-Work at customers sites then from home when not traveling. -Being away from Morrisville shields me from all the office politics, antics etc. -Good benefit package including profit sharing. -Company seems more dynamic than IBM

Cons

-As a traveling consultant my travel perks have suffered compared to IBM (lower quality hotels, no per-diem) -Since this is a Chinese company, we lost most (if not all) government x86 accounts. That translates in millions of dollars in revenue lost. -Cuts, cuts and more cuts. Although I appreciate a company running lean without so much deadweight, it's also scary to see people being let go. -The future quality of the x86 server line concerns me if the development work is going to be offshored to "low-cost geographies" in my experience low-cost=low-quality.

Thanks for your feedback. We do share your concern about quality. We would never do anything to jeopardize that. Many thought the ThinkPad would decline when we bought the IBM PC division due to the same concern. What happened? Record sales and a jump from nowhere to the #1 PC company in the world! So we do have a track record of quality and success. We intend to do the same with Servers. Also, Lenovo never takes any actions that impact someone's employment lightly. Our goal is to hire the best, and keep them long term.
