Pros

Average salary & benefits. Decent technical people.

Cons

Lenovo is Chinese owned so jobs are constantly moving to China. This means that you have little or no job security. The first and second line management do not know how to manage software technology and continue to think you can make last second changes to code bases and not obsolete all the testing you have already done. Everything is run by comittee and everyone thinks they can tell the development team what to do. There is no clear decision making ability. The experience level has dropped way off since IBM sold the PC business to Lenovo. Most first and second line managers are simply playing a political game to hang on to thier own jobs.

Pros

Comparable salaries, work enviornment, training material and experience

Cons

Large company with the small business promotion process. You can only be promoted if you have a really close relationship with your first and second line managers. Doesn't really matter if you do your job well and have the passion for the business... the person who get's promoted is your manager's best friend. And it's not personal. I've seen it all throughout the departments and everyone comments about it. It's awfully dissapointing.

Pros

Depending on where you land in the company, potential for great work/life balance. Lenovo just started summer hrs which means work from home on Friday afternoon, and no meetings allowed. Bonuses were great this year, but that's an exception in this industry.

Cons

No promotions for US employees, regardless of how well you perform. All non-management employees I know in 25-40 age group are unhappy, in all functions, so it's not limited to Procurement. No career opportunities, although there is a lot of talk of talent & retention. Most employees are hit with a difficult schedule of late evening and early morning calls to work with China.Oh, yes, another thing: Lenovo went through inflation of titles. Almost all first line managers are now called Directors. Also, a bunch of "program directors" out there...
