Pros

Lenovo sells a wide range of products: servers, storage, PCs, laptops, tablets and phones. Potential to touch a large swath of the IT customers.

Cons

Lenovo == layoffs. NEVER ever sign with this company without an exit plan (stock options or buyout). They continually lay people off every quarter regardless of performance. Technical management is inept at best, and the #1 position in PCs is smoke and mirrors. They bought other companies are quickly "outsourcing" everything to low-cost cheap China creation (hence the security bugs and continuous hardware quality problems). This company aspires to be Apple but lacks the creativity, technical skills and commitment. The CEO barely speaks English -- his continuous broken English is an embarrassment to all Lenovo employees.

Readers, please take this comment with a grain of salt. Much of this is incorrect. We value constructive criticism on this site. But many of the claims here are gross exaggerations. Some of the comments have validity, such as we aspire to be innovators, and we are the #1 PC company in the world. Our CEO continues to be listed in major publications as one of the best in the world. Our company is global and values employees from all countries and expects respectful points of view from our employees. Lenovo has thousands of employees in various countries and we all work together as a single global company to achieve our clear goals. We do not typically expect people to work on Saturdays, nor do we make a habit of letting our top talent go...we have had a recent reduction do to reshaping our company due to a needed transformation to PC+ after 2 major acquisitions. We do wish you the best and ask while you are working at Lenovo to always to your best and help resolve any issues you see. We are glad you see issues, that means we can get better....it is important to share your concerns so we can improve. Please feel free to contact your manager or HR to discuss your concerns as we are here to help.

The place is a joke

Pros

The people I met and worked with in this toxic environment and was in the same boat I was.

Cons

Possibly too many to name, horrible hours, leadership that is completely delusional. the people in charge still think that the mobile phone division is irrelevant they have no idea that the world doesn't care. So they still run the place like it's a Fortune 500 big shot company but in reality it's a joke. The turnover and layoffs are horrendous. I read a book once and it described combat as mundane periods of really not doing much punctuated bye moments of sheer terror and when they're over a bunch of your friends are gone. That's pretty much this place in a nutshell due to all the layoffs, of which I made it through seven of them. Despite having to constantly lay people off you'd think at some point they would rethink how they do business but they never learn and they just keep making the same mistakes over and over and over. I worked for Motorola at first and when Lenovo took over it got worse. the products turn to garbage the treatment of the employees got worse, layoffs ramped up. most of the people I know that are still there are just biding their time waiting for their severance packages and not working real hard at anything and I think that definitely shows in their latest products.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review, and for your service to Motorola and Lenovo. Reducing our workforce is a difficult, but necessary, decision to make as we continue to execute our strategy for Intelligent Transformation while achieving sustainable, profitable growth. Recently we had to take this step of rebalancing our headcount and skills to position us for the future. We treated those affected with dignity and respect, and offered a strong transitional program. While we may reduce positions in certain areas of the business, we are investing in others, adding new employees with the necessary skills to fuel our future growth. Lenovo will continue to make adjustments as needed as part of our ongoing management of the business.

Pros

Upon reaching your goal, you'll receive a rewarding compensation package

Cons

The company displays several critical shortcomings: a lack of work-life balance, a myopic focus on market share at the expense of employee well-being, fostering an inhumane working environment, and a toxic company culture. Additionally, there's a pervasive refusal to acknowledge poor decisions made by top management, a failure to develop strategies for integrating non-Lenovo products with existing solutions and services, and a notable incapacity to efficiently deploy solutions for customers. The top management consistently questions without grasping the ground realities, offering no supportive guidance. Instead, they resort to harshly reprimanding employees, creating an unwelcoming environment resembling scolding without constructive feedback, thus fostering an atmosphere of disrespect and disregard for employee well-being. It appears that Lenovo follows a troubling practice of laying off employees, disregarding their confirmed achievement of sales targets. This norm of dismissing individuals despite meeting their sales goals raises concerns about job security and the company's commitment to valuing employee contributions.
