Pros

money, company car, being busy

Cons

lack of respect, workload, phone calls on days off, no work-life balance, toxic work culture. most managers are people who have been in the company for years - their mentality and approach to work stopped a long time ago. they know everything best, they don't make mistakes, and graduates definitely want to take their position! so the best method is not to teach them, why waste productivity hours on grads?!

Pros

The salary is the only good thing about working for this company.

Cons

Working as a Graduate manager for Lidl I was told that I would be on a well rounded three part training course. The reality was the opposite the hours are dreadful starting at 4am in the morning and working 12 hour or 13 hours. Then tasks were physically exhausting and I ended up with back problems as a consequence. Everything is done under an unrealistic time pressure and if this time frame isn’t met the management are verbally abusive. Bullying was carried out daily. Managers would humiliate staff. The hours are exhausting and the way the shifts are you never get two consecutive days off. Don’t work here the graduate scheme is a scam!

Pros

Pay and perks (use of company car, lidl discount)

Cons

This graduate scheme involved some initial store work, before the permanent post at Head Office a month later. Unfortunately, Lidl HO was a terrible working environment, for me at least. There are several nasty characters around who seem to get their kicks out of humiliating and singling out new graduates and employees. I have heard my (former) colleagues also complain about being reprimanded as if they were in school, as well as being at the receiving end of some pretty appalling passive aggressive behaviour. Other complaints have included a lack of mobility and opportunities, lack of recognition for good work and being expected to stay for endless hours of overtime without question. To thrive at Lidl, in my opinion anyway, necessitates a very thick skin, but also (sadly) the tendency to throw others under the bus and succeed based on others' failure. Leaving was the best decision I ever made.
