      Hard work , potentially long shifts , decent pay.

      Pros

      Ok pay especially after pay level steps achieved. Currently £12.40 starting rate, then £12.90 , then £13.30 after your 3rd anniversary. (Almost a negative point pay wise as competitors like Tesco have almost caught up with Lidl/Aldi even though work loads much higher here) Generous holiday entitlement (upto 35 days after 5 years, 30 before this, paid at your weekly contract hour level). Can be good teamwork if you have decent colleagues who are prepared to put effort in. A few decent company benefits but nothing that can't be found easily elsewhere. Work hard and get rewarded as in more likely to be working morning shifts and days / hours that suits your life. Can progress very quickly if you want too with hard work and able to get understanding of business.

      Cons

      Sickness levels generally high which makes work even harder if you have problematic team members. Management often lack experience, don't deal with problems but this is hit or miss depending on managers you have. Often changes with swaps between stores. Can be difficult to get your contract hours as things are so tight,.company productivity targets are tough and counterproductive, not good for customers at all. I.e unworked delivery, not enough staff in building especially with sickness rates high. Sometimes can feel pay is not enough on regular basis when staffing issues and delivers issues are a problem. Latest pay increase was dire and real term decrease.(2.8% for me when average UK increase for same year was over 5%!!.)
