Pros

Pay, contracted to 20 hours on £8.22 but as they only gave me 6 hours a week i was paid about £16 or so an hour,

Cons

The management expect you to scan a certain amount of items in a time frame with hardly any till training at all. I was told the basics and that was it. Was contracted to 20 hours a week but was only put down for about 6. But because i was contracted to 20 hours i still got paid for that amount. About 6 weeks in they let me go due to "not meeting the standards of Lidl" how are you meant to reach these "standards" if you don't get properly trained? So after a few months i received a letter saying that they had overpaid me by about £400 and demanded me to pay back by a certain date or further action would be taken. Obviously i didn't pay them a penny as i was contracted to 20 hours a week therefore legally they had to pay me for those hours, even though the manager only put me down for 6 hours a week. Funny thing is, one of my colleagues at my current job was in the same situation as i was and he also didn't pay a penny backasnd guess what? I haven't heard anything back from them and its been well over a year Moral of the story is, if you work for Lidl and they let you go and demand money from you , DONT PAY A SINGLE PENNY! Its a scare tactic, this must happen alot which would explain why at my induction day at a disturbtion centre in Kent, there was about 50 odd people in this room all recently been recruited by Lidl.....there's a reason why when you go into their stores they always have new staff working there,

Pros

This company, specifically. A lot of time and money has been spent on Lidl US, but despite the claims of its "start-up" status and the polished exterior it presents, the company culture has morphed into a bizarre mash-up of the worst of European business practices and lengthy American work hours. Expect an emphasis on time-in-seat and superficial appearances over work quality. There were a few upsides, of course: -Great benefits, even for the DC area -Competitive compensation at the managerial level and above -A few great people to work with

Cons

Unfortunately, none of these things begin to counter the self-defeating informal policies of nepotism, sexism, and (occasional) racism. Prospective employees at Lidl US have been passed over for hiring due to the following reasons: -They were married -They were overweight -They had mentioned family obligations or an ill relative who they provided care for -They had children It would behoove prospective applicants to review the demographics of Lidl US' senior management and Board of Directors before making any serious commitments. The sheer number of smart, hard-working, and optimistic people who have wound up crying in a bathroom stall because of workplace toxicity at this company is entirely too high.

Pros

- They'll probably hire you - Lots of vacation (which you can't use) - Some great people, but a lot of terrible people too - Benefits are legitimately generous

Cons

The woman who did my onboarding called people who wrote negative reviews on Glassdoor "toxic" "like a cancer" that needed to be removed. Good luck changing that culture! That's when I first knew I made a terrible mistake. - Good luck finding anyone to hire you with this experience - Inefficient and disorganized management unable to prioritize - People who made the worst decisions that still impact the company were the ones promoted - Work load is unreasonably high and causes endless problems (and costs serious money) - There are genuinely a lot of snobby Europeans trying to tell you how things work in Europe regardless of its relevance - You have to work on a Suface ... are you kidding me? You can barely open two PDFs.
