Pros

It's a job and I actually like their products

Cons

big workload, small contracts (20hrs), expected to be completely flexible, expected to be there on time but never get out in time (very difficult to plan anything), no staff discount, hardly any praise, bad communication between management and store assistants, not being treated as a valued member (remember without the store workers they wouldn't make any money at all)

Pros

Salary is the only benefit, but you are constantly reminded of this, and that you will not receive the same anywhere else. No perks no bonus no matter how well store performs.

Cons

Extremely long hours,60/70 hours a week which were worked off the clock. No breaks, everything timed, till scan speeds etc. Constantly harassed by suits from head office on power trips. Not physically possible to carry out the number of daily tasks whist trying to maintain a store. Do not consider taking a position here if you have any life, friends etc.,because you will have no life when leaving. After nine long year's i decided the money was no longer worth it,and its the best decision i have ever made. There is life after Lidl but it takes a while to readjust to a normal life again though!!

You sell your soul to the devil

Pros

The company is trying to change the company culture, and changes seem to be very positive, but unfortunately it does not reach store level just yet. Stores are still "old school", no positive reinforcements, no recognition, no respect, only pushing, bullying and giving out. Never enough hours given for certain jobs, whoever is in the shop in under constant pressure. Safety in stores is also a huge problem.

Cons

New core values, the company seems to try make things better. Management working hours under control, no 60 hours per week any more. Money is good, if you don't do overtime, because overtime is not paid.
