Pros

If you're willing to put in some hard work, long hours and engage a least a bit of your brain then the opportunities to progress from store assistant to store management roles can be achieved relatively quickly.

Cons

The working patterns can really mess up your work/life balance. Quite often I would work a 10am - 8.30 shift and then be back in again at 6am the following morning. These sort of working patterns seemed to affect a lot of the staff in-store. Everyday is pretty much exactly the same, which maybe a pro point to some people, however if you require some change don't work here or any retail job for that matter. Upper levels of management have no clue what it is like to work in-store and often insist on duties being performed when you really do not have any time left. It really is quite demanding some days and you can be pushed hard to get all of your jobs done. Staff expecting an easy ride do not last long here. Don't expect much of a break either. 15 - 20 mins break on a 8 or 10 hour shift.
