Pros
Very stable employment, lots of co-workers and ability to get on new projects if you are patient and work hard. However, there is definitely favorites being played.
Cons
Things move slowly, and scheduling can sometimes be unpredictable. You can be pidgeon-holed into an "area of expertise". The work isn't always particular interesting, and can be frustrating. Promotions and pay raises are often not what you would see at a private business.
