Pros
Still doing some very exciting scientific and technological work. Job stability is excellent, especially for strong performers. There are opportunities for younger generations to grow quickly if they perform and play politics well since a lot of the workforce is nearing retirement age.
Cons
A lot of red tape and internal politics. Bad managers are allowed to continue being bad managers with HR, Ethics and senior leaders not doing anything to fix it beyond a slap on the wrist and token trainings that don't actually get followed up by meaningful measurements to see if they worked (management science 101). Gets demoralizing for good employees trying to do well and make a difference.
