Your skills don't matter

Pros

The salary, 401k options and overall benefits were good. Will wait to see if they try to buy me out of my pension in a few years. But that was about it.

Cons

Being subject to poor management, which protects 'club members' when layoffs occur. The company has no interest in retaining the best talent, which has been amply displayed.

Pros

Flexible work hours. Time off if you can get it.

Cons

Very limited upward mobility. Upper level management tends to get rewarded for the mess they created. To many single point failures when someone is out of office. Appears to be severely under staffed in the technical areas and over staffed in power point status engineering. Upward mobility is severely limited. If you aren't part of the old General Dynamics group you are considered an 'outsider'.Health care is the worst I have seen (major deductible, large out of pocket expense).

Great Place to Work

Pros

The work is what you make of it. You can be a regular 9-5'er or you can dig in and make something of yourself. Lots of opportunity to move around within the divisions. Great education opportunities, not as good as it used to be but still something.

Cons

You can get lost in the crowd if you don't apply yourself. Upper management disorganization due to turnover tends to happen on a few programs
