Pros

Lockheed Martin provides a work environment where the work is relatively easy, the requirements are relatively light, and the stress level is relatively low unless you are part of senior management. If you are looking to coast through employeement, Lockheed Martin is a great place to work.

Cons

Lockheed Martin provides such a static work environment that does not promote or support the work of excellent employees. It has many of the standard expectations you would find within organizations of this age and size. Glacially slow and old fashioned without a lot of vision.

Pros

Job security is assured since most of the work is classified and cannot be outsourced. The medical plan is good but relatively expensive for such a large company.

Cons

You will work very long hours a lot of the time since project scheduling and estimation is atrocious at Lockheed. Merit raises are not tied to company performance, do not reflect employee's contributions to the company, and ignore if employee has critical skills the company is looking for. Reviews are very slanted to where you are in your salary band rather than what your compentencies are or the quality of your work. And managers are forced to "push" the majority of employees into the "average" rating to keep salaries down.

Pros

Large company tends to have larger fringe benefits. Location is amazing (especially if you live relatively close). Many varied opportunities are apparently available, but sometimes it's difficult to move to other jobs within the company depending on your current manager's need to keep you.

Cons

Reviews seem canned and do not seem to affect your raises, despite what is told to you by management. Benefits are on a major slide - even more so than similar companies. Internal project leadership (from a technical standpoint) can be lacking, sometimes due to a "leader by default" mentality.
