Pros

Good people, can't beat having every other Friday off, projects can be interesting sometimes. Depends on the procurement cycle.

Cons

HR is trying to flatten the organization and it is all but impossible to get a promotion unless you fit into the special "diversity" categories. Age discrimination is also rampant.

Pros

There are many opportunities within the company. If you want to progress in your current career or migrate to an related career field, you receive great encouragement from your management team. There are many online tools and processes to aid the individual and mentors available in any discipline.

Cons

It is a business that is tied to government contracts. Compensation is fair, but must fall within the guidelines of the contracts being worked. That is, an individual performing above the pay grade on a government contract would have to obtain approval from the government customer to be paid at a rate higher than the contract or seek an opportunity on another contract, which is fair, but not always understood by employees.

Pros

Good Pay and Benefits.

Cons

The Culture in Fort Worth in absolutely terrible for employees that are not coming from a military background. Many managers are former military that never worked for anyone else but government and DOD, so all the government inefficiencies and mindsets came with them. Coming from a non-defense private company, Lockheed was like walking back 30 years. The Facilities were old, 70s built, and for being a for being a high tech company I found myself working on Windows XP systems and impossible to get any software upgrades through the endless bureaucracy that exist there. Rooms where sales and finance work look nice but if you are an engineer you likely end up working in rooms not fit for your local jail. Work is extremely slow coming. Get used to the idea of hearing of a project, not being able to start working on it for 4 months, having several delays and then a rush to accomplish it with less that great quality and little support.
