Pros

Lockheed pays a very comparable salary. If you are starting your career, there are many avenues you can pursuit. If you enter Lockheed as an experienced professional, the process, jargon and culture may be a problem at first. However, eventually you will become familiar with the Lockheed process which is exceptional.

Cons

There are some wonderful people and there are a few rotten ones. One manager was hated by everyone, but everyone was afraid of her, so she held on for years terrorizing her group. But I guess that sort of thing happens in other places too.

Pros

Life work balance is the key. If you are grandfathered in to the pension program that is a good reason to remain as well.

Cons

No inline promotions after you have advanced beyond a certain level. At some point promotions are based on who you know. Raises don't seem to significantly reflect employees contributions to the company.

Cons

Incompetent middle and senior management Company seeks technicians over engineers Little room for creativity in software Failing 20 year old practices Long term, little chance for growth or advancement (in both career and personally) Locked into aerospace after too long a time, with great difficulty in transitioning to more "normal" software business companies Big on talk but little on action.
