Pros

Found another job. Stable employment due to strong role in government contracts and defacto "tenure". Many can work here their whole career. Found a way to get paid a $1B retainer by the US gov. to "be there" in case the gov needs a rocket. Cost of rocket not included.

Cons

Exemplifies the inefficiency of government work and wasted tax dollars. Massive overhead and a constant stream of "VPs". Aggressive Corporate Policy crosses the line on privacy. Operations based on an endless system of paperwork rather than wise and logical decision making by the people qualified to make those decisions. A great example - the recent "success" of the F35 program - 7 years late and $200B over budget.

Pros

Interesting programs with technical challenges. Small enough organization and short enough cycle times to be involved in end to end engineering.

Cons

Nil money for professional development. Work is driven by short term cost performance. Small presence of defense industry in South Florida.
