Pros

The matching is great, and the work is cool. Good people to have fun with if you’re 25-35~ socially.

Cons

The engineering leadership at the company has a very poor idea of how to handle software jobs. Frankly, working at Lockheed as a software engineer is kind of like actively working for charity. The pay is awful, especially as you get into a mid level position. Performance based promotions are stupidly hard to get, but they’ll give people from other companies $50k starting bonuses. Makes sense, right?

Pros

One phrase: work life balance. The 9/80 or 4/10 schedules are very flexible. I rarely worked overtime. The compensation is good, especially for the light workload. Benefits are pretty good, and there's lot of room to jump between projects so work stays fresh.

Cons

Huge, slow, frustrating company. Very old school, and a feeling of complacency abounds - there is very little drive to move quickly, efficiently, or creatively when working on projects here. Lots of red tape and just in general the employees here do not work quickly. Probably goes without saying, but LM is majorly a boys club, especially on the engineering side.

Pros

Depending on your team: - work can be nearly fully remote - WLB very good as it's not easy to do overtime (thats govt money to be spent) - Interesting problems to develop skills against - decent salary, not most competitive but definitely good

Cons

- tech stack slightly outdated - redtape can slow down certain processes/practices
