Cons

Promotions are hard to come by, political, pay below standards for commercial companies, old technology, lots of unnecessary processes, quite a few people simply waiting to retire, no pensions anymore

Benefits, exposure to interesting and cool programs, pay for performance is really rewarded. The benefits for things you don't always think about like relocation, time off, 401k, are very good.

Cons
