given the nature of the company's core business (defense contractor) there are frequent layoffs and this is unfortunate

Management is very poor. The mentality is we are a solid and big company if you want more money you can go work for someone else and we will hire someone else for less. We are such a big company there are plenty of people who would want to work for us. I have seen so many talents just go.
