Pros

- Exciting opportunities - Working with high-tech solutions - Very defined culture, comfort of business expectations - Supporting our nation's warfighters; feeling to contribute to our national defense - Mission focused

Cons

- Management sometimes forgot who we were working for, despite the company slogan; in decisions, what was best for the company was the primary motivator, and often times what was best for the customer (warfighter) wasn't even a consideration - Management instituted a time recording system in which excess hours worked on a project beyond 40 pr week were NOT to be recorded, resulting in some unethical practices that I didn't feel right about (5-o'clock programs) - No clear path to move up. Despite management promises, it took me quitting to finally get offered the promotion that was denied to me over several years. Had they offered me the promotion earlier, I would not have left to go to another company. - You are treated like just another cog in the huge corporate machine. To the company, you are just a number. That would be okay if the middle tier and local management didn't also treat you that same way.

Pros

Not a bad place to work. Decent pay. Ok benefits (not great). Culture is bureaucratic. Good place to start a career.

Cons

Lower pay and benefits in services business. Training and development opportunities have become more limited with recent budget cuts and and cost savings initiatives.

Sucks the life out of you

Pros

There is an undeniable thrill at the thought of working for Lockheed Martin, one of the big folks in the space industry. The people are generally really good people. The company--depending upon WHICH division you work for--can treat their people poorly. They are very flexible for work hours which is wonderful and they don't generally micromanage, another major plus. But overall, within a small number of years working here, the life will be sucked out of you, as will your love and admiration of NASA.

Cons

Their salary rating is a joke. They have a comp ratio system. Let's say your pay range for your job title is 50,000 - 70,000. If you are making near the 50k, you 'compensation ratio' is low, so you'll get a raise every year, usually. If you are at 60k then you're at the middle of your pay range and your comp ratio is 1, therefore, unless you're absolutely effing spectacular, your raise is zero. So how is this the middle of the 'payrange' when you pretty much can't get past the halfway point. And that includes no cost of living increase so you actually end up making less...
