Pros

I believe Lockheed Martin most competitive aspect in the market is their 4 day work week. This + a young and understanding manager make for a great work life balance. There are opportunities for growth for early career employees which is wonderful & the job security is extremely reassuring for people who feel anxious about the current job market & limited offerings.

Cons

Some of the work can be redundant. Unless there are opportunities presented to you, you can get stuck in the same position for years. Also, government work faces a lot of bureaucratic issues involving tedious responsibilities, delays in resolving specific issues.

Pros

- professional coworkers - generous tuition assistance - decent pay

Cons

- My manager was not helpful, only had two one on ones each year and would often make verbal promises that he eventually forgot months later. - boring and broken tech; testing your code locally could even be a struggle and there were pointless Java updates - program clearance took way too long; I was at the company for three years not knowing what I was working before I couldn’t take it anymore - paradoxical optimizations; teammates would often talk endlessly on how to optimize the broken tech they’ve been assigned to. It all felt kind of pointless - confused management and lots of cancellations; 4/5 of the projects I worked on were cancelled which was very demoralizing - clocking in hours on spreadsheets is annoying; often found myself working late because I was lost on a assignment and didn’t want to mischarge. Ended up subtracting my vacation time frequently - teammates were often bad at explaining things (especially through writing). I recall my software architect explaining dependency injection in a condescending manner to insinuate it’s too difficult to explain. After learning it myself a year later, I’d say it’s not that complicated at all. - teammates were a bit backstabby during year end reviews

Pros

you learn a lot, most of the people are great

Cons

if your manager has no idea of the work you do, then the people you train that are at his site will get promoted over you, albeit for still less pay. You will get a 1% raise a year if you work your butt off. also hours 40-45 aren't paid for, they are considered a donation to the company. Last, overtime is just straight time. have fun...

Pros

Love my coworkers, they are capable, no making excuses for them Get to do lots of extreme engineering Lots of room to try your hand at everything. Managers here tend to be great Flexibility, you are seen a person and are given room to manage work and life.

Cons

Salary can be lacking If you work on plant, facilities are a bit lame, no windows, spotty cell service Funding for programs can be spotty, so be prepared to play ball.
