Pros

Good company to start a career at and get exposure to the aerospace sector.

Cons

High achievers are taken advantage of and not rewarded appropriately. Too many managers moving around with varying priorities. The only way to move up quickly is to leave the company or program.

Pros

Flexibility outside of manufacturing environments. Off fridays

Cons

With off Fridays all other days are 10 hours, with a commute it can be daunting. Most areas have a terrible leadership culture.

Great Benefits, Low Pay

Pros

Amazing work-life balance with every Friday off. They do tuition reimbursement, 401k matching program, managers are very helpful and kind. Work load is fairly manageable. Co workers are helpful.

Cons

If you are a high performer you’ll find much better pay at a tech company. Promotions can take years to get. Raises are typically 2-3% every year and depend on seniority. Bonuses are embarrassing for how big Lockheed is (range $400 - $600 and depend on seniority). The customer Aka the government is slow to work with

Pros

Get to work on some pretty cool stuff 4-10s Pay and benefits are very competitive for the job

Cons

If you don't live in Littleton this is a pretty far drive. Depending on the area you work, it's a toss up on whether you get a bad manager that doesnt care about their people, micromanages and/or back stab, vs a good manager that does care, doesn't micromanage, and will back you up.

Pros

-Sometimes have interesting work and can work on some interesting products. - Many of the coworkers do encourage you to learn if you are willing to ask the right questions. - The flex 4/10 schedule is good for working around your life schedule but can be exhausting when you have to go into the office.

Cons

-Upper management pats themselves on the back while pushing off promotions for their employees. -Bad leaders up the chain use the Good ol’ Boy system to keep people with million dollar salaries who just take naps at their desk and let their programs fail. -Sometimes given large assignments that managers knew for months last minute and expected to be done in two weeks or less. -Lots of people are leaving right now so every team is a skeleton crew with employees working two/three times what they should be. -Facilities are a wreck post pandemic (raccoons in the office, A/C not working for months, littered with wasp nests, etc).

Pros

Cornell Classes and the resources that come with them

Cons

Lord of the Flies atmosphere Mentors are only for team PMs Locked into a certain business area (Space, Aeronautics, RMS) for 3 years Lockheed-specific lecture series is a joke Leadership conferences are bigger jokes End up "in debt" to Lockheed (you have to pay them if you leave your job) If you can pass the interview, you're too experienced for this program. As you apply, previous ELDPs will dance around the LCP and how it was for them, and THAT IS A RED FLAG. LCP is a horribly toxic atmosphere where future leaders learn not to get too high on their own power by getting too high on their own power and making other leaders suffer for it. The organization not only allows, but encourages this. ELDPs work 100 hour weeks for free on what is essentially busy work. The coaches and mentors are less than happy to meet when you ask. If you bring anything up to your managers, you'll hear "learn time management and talk to me next month" for months. I'd been with Lockheed Martin for four years. Their process really holds them back and the work is boring at best. The only good things about them are the work-life balance and the people, usually. This program? This program drove me out of this horrible company for good.

Pros

They generally pay above industry average.

Cons

Middle management is terrible, seems to mainly be yes men and women who seem to spend more of their time managing their internal reputation. Will claim there is a no blame culture, but will blame the leads and staff for pretty much everything. Running joke was accountability stops once you become a level 5. Incredibly bureaucratic. I have worked in both the public and private sector and its probably the most administratively heavy organization I've seen. Very basic low level tasks can require approvals and reviews from a huge amount of stakeholders and managers often with multiple forms and systems. Staff care is very low, burnout was common with raises regularly offered when staff gave their resignation either from overwork, stress or just frustration. Issues causing these problems were never addressed.

Can feel like a cog in the machine. Little opportunities for rotation outside of LDP programs. Managers expect you to build careers within their groups.
