Pros

A good place to coast if that’s what you’re looking for The mission of government clients is often more appealing than that of commercial tech firms

Cons

Teams have independent cultures so your experience is totally dependent on the leadership of the team you’re on. That said, most of them are bad as the company only cares about leaders’ ability to maintain the contracts with the customer. In my experience, the only thing shared is a lack of interest in the experience/growth of employees Mediocre pay/benefits Many mediocre coworkers. People are hired without confirming they have basic technical competencies. People are mostly early in their career or old timers riding things out until retirement Quality of work is irrelevant. There’s pressure to only do the bare minimum to satisfy the contract wording. Not a place for you if you care about your craft Anyone technically competent gets promoted to be (mostly incompetent) middle managers. Such roles are often considered a reward for loyalty. I worked with 6-8 different managers during my time there and would not interested in working with a single one again. In all other places I’ve worked combined, there’s only 1 or 2 I would say the same about Most teams have outdated software practices/technologies. For example, many teams pay lip service to “agile” but actually follow waterfall practices.

Pros

The pay was good. Your time added up fast. Great co workers.

Cons

My manager was horrible. Went to HR about it and nothing was done. Others left the department and went to HR about the same manager and still nothing was done.

Beware your department management

Pros

Pay is decent, not spectacular. 401k match is great. A lot of room for growth and opportunity.

Cons

Complete lack of empathy for COVID. Executives send out seemingly compassionate emails, but leave the decision on safety to lower level managers who just want butts in seats. They think they are working towards a single "OneLM" platform but there is massive dissent between the different business units. Very little regard for employee safety.

Pros

Small company atmosphere, OK commute, growing company. Not much else to say except it is a job.

Cons

Toxic Management. Clock watchers, you go five min over lunch, they call you out. Overworked employees, so many mistakes being rushed and managers point blame on others and ridiculous cluttered and not easy to work in space, So noisy! Political atmosphere! Unqualified people being promoted in management and long term employed very good and personable people with so much knowledge not being promoted. Very disspointing and unfair situation.

Pros

Good pay Decent benefits 4 day work schedule Interesting work Innovative projects

Cons

If you aren't part of the "in crowd" you will not have opportunities presented to you and you will be the "fall guy" for others. The long term managers are good at gaslighting and if you don't fit in with them they will work to get you out.

Pros

As a recent college graduate I had little to no knowledge about military aircrafts but through the careful guidance of my mentors, coworkers and manager they have taught me everything I need to know to do my job as IT lead correctly

Cons

I think this is common in a lot of workplaces but people are VERY vocal about their political beliefs... it's not appropriate

Pros

One of the best 401k matchings offered in any industry (10% max) Salary band is smack in the middle of what is expected in the defense industry, yes it's not a FAANG salary, but it's very comfortable Depends on the location, coworkers, managers, etc, but overall they try hard to have a positive culture Overall, solid company. Might not be suited for ambitious job seekers looking for the highest compensation possible but good for someone wanting a stable, decent paying job.

Cons

The health insurance is kind of bad (HDHP only in Fort Worth). Things move slowly which means older tools, processes and ideas. Lots of older, more experienced people (20+ years) and new hires (5- years) but not many middle career folks.
