Pros

Honestly for some LM is a fantastic place to work. If they have work for you and you have a good manager you will probably come into work with enough to get you through the week and excited to come back on Monday. The 4/10s have their pros and cons but personally it is great to have Fridays to relax by myself. Luckily there are so many people on campus you are bound to find a few friends.

Cons

I have worked at LM Space in Co, LM Aero Palmdale and Fort Worth; and Fort Worth has undoubtedly the biggest ego. They are still and will forever be General Dynamics the designers of the late great F16 and (eventhough it was LM’s) F35. The company boasts a metric that says 50% of employees are within 0-5 with the company which is not a good metric to talk about. They have a serious issue with most groups having most people with all of the work within 5 years of retiring, then one person who is in the gap range (30-50) and a bunch of new hires who they are looking to have absorb all of the retirees knowledge in 5 years.

Pros

Management is pretty good. They try to get you to do different things and accommodate based on what your skill set is and what you want to do long term. They will attempt to pivot you and try to mold you into your career path.

Cons

Senior managers and directors seem to have favorites and some people are in positions they don’t have the experience for. But it’s based off of who you know and how you get along. Promotions are not always fair and some people tend to get picked that do not deserve a promotion compared to the people that work endless hours to meet program needs.

Pros

Some truly outstanding individual contributors work at this company, and they deserve leadership that matches their caliber.

Cons

As a veteran, I have a strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Unfortunately, I experienced firsthand how integrity can be punished rather than rewarded. Alongside more than 15 colleagues, I raised serious concerns about a senior manager who consistently bypassed engineering and quality in critical planning decisions. This not only fostered a toxic work environment but also compromised product safety. Despite escalating these concerns to HR, Ethics, and even a VP, no meaningful action was taken. Our claims were dismissed as unsubstantiated. However, when these same issues were reported to our customer (DCMA), the concerns were validated. A dedicated team spent months correcting the resulting process failures. Despite this, the senior manager faced zero accountability and was quietly reassigned to another site in the same role. Meanwhile, those of us who spoke up were marginalized. I believe my commitment to doing the right thing played a part in how poorly I was treated. It became clear that protecting leadership took priority over supporting the workforce—or even ensuring the safety of the aircraft and those who fly them. If you're someone who values ethics, collaboration, and transparency, this may not be the right environment for you. Leadership accountability and psychological safety remain major areas for improvement.

Pros

- Four-tens great for work life balance - Being indoors is rare in aviation - Great products, legacy pedigree and industry reputation - Everyone is kind and helpful, great support systems for employees. Leadership cares about issues - Amazing training program. New employees learn very well here - Many career paths for advancement in both the hourly and salary side, if you're motivated and skilled

Cons

- Very old facility full of roaches and filth - The union leadership is both hostile and incompetent, adding to a bad working culture on both the hourly and salaried side. Shop stewards hardly know the CBA, the leaders filch dues, and they get nothing done. Union doesn't care about the company, only self-preservation - Management often in a state of panic. Rapidly shuffling managers makes the work pace chaotic and stressful - The bathrooms are criminally filthy and undermaintained - Nothing gets fixed, everything is old and run-down - Extremely cumbersome legacy processes and multi-department checklists bog everything down in the multi-year timeframe
