Pros

- Great people to work with, very smart and have a lot of experience in the technology - Lots of money for cool projects

Cons

- Managers and senior management don't really care about career development that isn't leadership track (climbing the ladder to make the most money is more important) - Contract work makes it so you could have nothing to do one quarter but then drowning in work the next - Career growth is stunted by lack of funding for training and mentors being too busy to help or to provide 1-on-1 skill development - If you don't have a Top Secret clearance (that requires a polygraph test??) you will have almost no programs to work on, and management won't help you find any unclassified work

Pros

Prestigious company notoriety. Nothing of note outside of benefits.

Cons

Expectations of work are outrageous. I was juggling 3 contracts, working 12+ hours a day in order to meet my requirements alone. No appreciation. Training in a remote environment was severely lacking, more button pusher oriented than real training. Management usually don’t understand your day to day tasks and offload to junior analysts who also have a hard time explaining the “what, why, and when” and give conflicting information versus policy.

Pros

Exceptional Benefits, 401k matching, PTO package is excellent, 4/10 schedule, bonuses, Tuition Assistance, Educational and professional growth opportunities (Certification $ coverage, Lean Six Sigma classes, trainings)

Cons

Management reluctant to change, slow to consider and act on improvement ideas, aging management gap between leaders and millennial-Gen Z employees, very centralized, micromanagement is common in some departments, does not always employ "effective leaders", autonomy to make decisions is low

Pros

Large company with lots of opportunity to move within business units yet remain at the company.

Cons

Don't practice what they preach. Lots of training and advancement opportunities that seem to be ignored and replaced with favoritism (at least at Sikorsky). No room for advancement.
