Pros

It's a job and many of my peers understand that.

Cons

I rate it one star because I can't go any lower. Do you want to work at the kind of place that is installing digital clocks at the entrances? Seriously?

Pros

I recently left MTS and I must admit, I do miss the cool projects I got to work on. The work is challenging, interesting, and you learn from some of the smartest engineers in the world.

Cons

Management. Ummm, management. Oh yeah, did I mention management? The CEO (JG) is not an engineer. He is not a businessman. He is a politician. And not a very good one considering everyone seems to be able to see right through him except for the board. I'm very surprised he's still around. Management, in general, are businessmen running an engineering company that they don't know a thing about, how it works, or how to make it more efficient. Instead, they put in place rules to make their people seem less human, that only demoralizes the workers.

Pros

1) Pay and benefits are reasonable for the industry. 2) Many talented individuals with years of experience. 3) Ability to work on some very interesting projects

Cons

1) Customer satisfaction is not #1, revue and profit are. 2) The current management has the goal of being a $billion/year company, but when asked why doesn't have a good answer why. The steps they are taking to get there do not seem to be adding up to their stated goals. 3) They company has been reprimanded by the US government several times in the past few years and as such any further incidents are going to cost the company greatly. As such very few people within the company are willing to take any risks to get things done. What would normally take a 10 minute discussion between co-workers devolves into 3 or 4 conferences and meetings where nobody seems to want to take ownership. If you are a go-getter type of person and expect for things to move quickly here look somewhere else to work. 4) Workloads are very high for the smart, driven people who know how to get things done. Far too many other employees that seem to add layers of unnecessary paperwork to the process. 5) Long history of procedures and protocols that are outdated with industry. When asked why "X' procedure is done often the answer is "well we've always done it like that..."
