Pros

MTS has name recognition in the material testing and life cycle testing systems. Instron is the second largest company in the testing industry. MTS has a global presence and attracts technical talent at their Eden Prairie Headquarters.

Cons

Lack of advancement, compensation lagging industry norms and medicore leadership.

Pros

The company is owned by ITW and some things have been an improvement that came with their ownership. MTS has been a great company to work for and has had good management that was in many places promoted from within. Historically compensation was fair and at times well above average.

Cons

Sales professionals compensation has always been based on Salary being 50 percent and commission plans being 50 percent. However the new ITW compensation plan for the sales team in 2025 was implemented to minimize the amount of money that could be earned via commission during the fiscal year and designed to punish sales persons who did not make at least 100 percent of their goals by making them pay back commission paid out during the year. This is an unacceptable plan and borderline unethical. If you are seeking a sales job, my advice is look elsewhere.

Pros

No pros since the acquisition by ITW

Cons

This USED to be a great place to work. Ever since acquisition, they are all about money and no longer care for employees (Just like what is mentioned in other comments). Now it's a place of talentless people where cheap labor is hired and overworked. If you are applying here, keep updating your resume quarterly. Employees have no rights or power. Company will always side with the manager in case of disagreements. If you're applying as a manager, don't decorate your office too much. Re-orgs and lay offs happen way too often and managers have more turnover than employees. BEWARE!
