Pros

When I started my Mary Kay business, I didn't realize how far I had to go outside of my comfort zone. However, in doing that, I have become a much more positive and social person. Every woman is beautiful, but sometimes they just need a little help to feel it. I love making women feel beautiful. When you feel beautiful, you feel better about yourself and gain confidence. I'm so glad I get to be an essential part of that! You are your own boss and make your own hours and the environment is the most positive I've ever been in! The other ladies are great and your Sales Director (at least mine) will help you with any questions you have and help grow your business with you!

Cons

Not always having consistent sales and reorders.

Nice working environment / good values

Pros

A very family-like working environment. It is not the most creative place in the world but certainly the people make up for it. There is a respect for work/life balance and they are particularly understanding if you are a mother. I worked at HQ and am not a consultant. There is a real passion to do what's right by our consultants. People work hard at work but when the day is done - there aren't after working emails and ridiculous pressure. The value system of the founder is very much apparent - the mind frame of most is a bit old school and traditional but in comparison to other places I have worked - I highly recommend. People stay with the company a long time which is testament to the nice environment.

Cons

In the end, the place wasn't creative or innovative enough for me. I think better for someone more established in their career that just wants to collect a salary and go home. At times this inability to want to think outside the box made me feel the environment was too lazy. There wasn't bitchiness or anything like that - but people weren't willing to be challenged or push themselves too far. It was just a job.
