Beware of Aerotech

Pros

Good pay when working the 12 hour night shift. Great facilities. Biggest Med Tech company by revenue, with a global presence. If you're looking for an ok paying job, and don't mind long hours, their 12 hour shift is great because everything over 8 hours is time and a half.

Cons

Benefits are only for actual 'Medtronic' employees and not employees hired by their hiring agency (Aerotech). All employees need to start off as contractual, and it can take years for people to convert from contractual (Aerotech) to permanently employed at Medtronic. I've met individuals who've worked there for five years and are still contractors. Aerotech isn't very helpful with employee disputes, work issues, or even at setting employees up for success. They're chatty before you go onboard, but their representatives (Aerotech) become very quiet when you've already started working. People might think this is all Aerotech's fault, but I believe Medtronic is complicit in this, because this allows them to hire easily replaceable, non-union labor personel.

Pros

Big company, with brand recognition.

Cons

Very political. Growth and advancement depends on who ya know. No desire to get to know their employees and/or what drives them. Rules by an iron fist approach.

Pros

Good benefits like full health, dental vision and 401k

Cons

Some of the supervisors don't care about how employees act during work hours. Such as taking personal phone calls, using work computers for personal errands/use, talking about personal life for hours on end. Talking sports and about what to have for lunch for long periods of time. Goofing off and playing pranks on each other when they should be working. Certain supervisors will actually dislike the good employee who tells them about the bad work environment/habits instead of taking the information and trying to fix the problems. I would advise not to work in this department. Lazy employees are locked more than the good ones who work hard and are professional. Very weird work environment with very little room for growth. They will deny your ask for a department transfer if they feel like they don't like you or want you to stay there. It's like a high school classroom. Lots of gossip and gang mentality. Very immature people and they have no interest in being more mature or improving themselves. Toxic work environment that should be avoided at all cost.
