Medtronic not as good of a place to work as it should be.

It's great going to work knowing that you're developing products that help improve people's lives.

Cons

You may be the best person in the department, but you won't be compensated/promoted for it. Medtronic has a 'good ole boy" network in place, and raises/promotions are not performance driven. Just talk to anyone in the memphis office about how backwards their promotion process is. Many people have been promoted who have had projects that haven't made it to commercialization. Worse yet, some of these projects have lost millions in development due to poor decisions by the project leaders and management, but they still get promoted over those who work their butts off.

Managment take interest in my personal and professional development. They are willing to give me opportunities if I simply present them.

Cons

Large company, medical industry is highly regulated and can add lots off additional tasks to any marketable product at any stage of research, technology, development, or marketing.

Supporting the Medtronic Mission and interaction with some incredible employees.

Cons

As a large company it is cumbersome to try and gain traction on new ideas. There are many processes and procedures to go through and then it boils down to influence management. Middle level management is not always transparent with their decision making process thus creating a divide between contributors and middle level management.
