Pros

Good compensation, good perk. Have chance to learn lots of things. Where there is people, there is BS. There's no exception for Facebook. However it just much better than other company I believe.

Cons

# Don't join the team that seems to be filled with one single race. My first year in FB was disaster cause I chose the wrong team and they have very bad management. (Data Infrastructure). The manager is not there to help you and just want you to have significant contribution. If you can't do that, they don't bother to figure out why and help you but try to kill you. Change to a different team the second year, and its totally different world. # long hours, but, what great/uprising company doesn't have long hours?

Pros

Smart people, pretty close to meritocratic, interesting challenges, high levels of transparency and super flat hierarchies considering the size of the company.

Cons

Due to emphasis on promoting managers from individual contributors some managers are not great at people management. Because of the limited top-down management sometimes you end up in tech debt that might've been avoided. Facebook is not really set up for employees with families, although they are getting better. Someone is always smarter than you...

Pros

Facebook truly values the important things in life (to me, at least). - The culture and dialog is open about everything. Whether it's with your manager, on your team or concerning a company wide issue. - The amount of power entrusted to employees is huge. You are empowered to go explore and find data, build things, and generally chose the course of action you think will have the most impact. - Managers force you to go home if you're not feeling well. Miss your kid's all star game to stay at work and you'll get weird looks. Perform your core function well and you have so much leeway in how you spend your time - (how it should be, right?) - The food is so good.

Cons

- Sometimes it's momentarily discouraging surrounded by such smart, driven, all-around awesome people. And it can be harder to stand out for excellence (despite internal commitment to acknowledging successes in public and private). - On occasion the community can be overly sensitive
