Pros

Dynamic, fast paced environment. If you are young and ambitious, with an opportunity to work in Meta you should absolutely take it. You will learn and grow exponentially.

Cons

People mgt is cursed. If you are anchored to your own personal values, and you like to grow and build successful teams, then you will struggle when it comes to performance calibrations. You will at some point have to throw a lamb to the slaughter. Performance calibrations at Meta is a game, not to be played by the faint hearted. You will be forced to give staff certain ratings. My advice would be to stay an IC for as long as possible and move up that track. You will be more successful and likely your mental health will remain intact for longer.

Pros

Teammates, overall compensation, challenging projects, fast paced. The day-to-day work is amazing, challenging, and rewarding while they last. You'll work with some of the best minds in their field and learn a lot.

Cons

Reorgs, layoffs, inconsistent management support, overemphasis on advertising work versus work. There's constant reorgs at least every six months. You spend half as much time replanning the year as you do actually executing due to a lack of durability in the leadership decisions. It's sold as "being agile", but it's more like chaotic and distracting. Along with functional team reorgs, it's common to be reshuffled around mid year between managers. This leads to a difficulty in individual growth, a lack of genuine manager relationships, and unlikely promotion cycles.
