Management only cares about themselves
Pros
- Brand name recognition - Easy to get infront of clients - Large partner ecosystem to help with deals - Expected compensation for a role like this
Cons
- I have seen time and time again sellers joining the team in hopes of working in a great environment where they can learn - only to be left with no mentorship no training and no guidance. They quickly become neck deep in problems and even scheduling 1on1s with their manager is met with the manager never showing up (this was not rare but became the expected.) - Selling at Microsoft is bloated. Partners do all the work, sales becomes all about managing internal political perceptions, and boy is this a full time job. - Management only cares about themselves! Long hours of culture conversations that are complete fluff. People sitting in a room saying they love Microsoft for the diversity and people. Mentorship is not there, feedback is not there, and what makes this the worst is culture is all they talk about. With the current sales management - it is as hypocritical as it gets. - Constant fear of looming layoffs. Management with no clear direction - Every seller is hit with ridiculous targets and pushed to make this happen. Due to the layoffs people left are forced to take on extra accounts and responsibility while they struggle to keep up with their own accounts - Because management works at Microsoft, they think they are top dogs and become narcissistic and ego fuelled. A colleague mentioned he was displeased with the way a manager handled him, that manager gave him the lowest bonus possible. There are many stories like this. - Life at Microsoft sales is all about boasting your accomplishments and being seen. If you do not play the politics game, you might aswell not be employed and people will be quick to point fingers at you.
