Majority white, Russian company makes life difficult for minorities

Pros

Company grew really fast last year.

Cons

As a previous reviewer mentioned, company is super (80%+) white and very Russian (significant plurality) which makes life difficult if you're a minority of any kind. Would steer clear if you are a minority or enjoy a diverse culture where many perspectives are welcomed. Also, very stingy with equity and not sure how much upside is left.

Miro Response

We are saddened to see any current or former employee with such a negative perception of our company. We suggest anyone reading this explore other reviews, and reach out to any current employees. Additionally, the data in the above review is inaccurate. Miro employees are 40% in the EU, 33% in RU, and 28% in US. As a truly global company with hubs all over the world, Mironeers hold passports from more than 60 countries. We seek and welcome talent from all cultures and identities. We have thriving ERG communities, and we are continually focused on building an even more diverse Miro. Based on our recent data, we are in line with much larger companies in terms of demography in the US and in terms of gender across our global hubs. Additionally, we place a strong emphasis on cross-cultural ways of working. We have regular “Real Talk” sessions, where our team learns about each other’s cultural and individual identities. Our goal is to truly “practice empathy to gain insight” and use this awareness to become better and more inclusive collaborators. Please reach out to any of us to hear what life at Miro is like-- it’s a great time to join: for our mission and our team.. and we offer equity for all employees!

Pros

The emphasis on work life balance is awesome. Don't get me wrong, we work hard but having a culture and leadership that values taking care of yourself is huge. Miro has a very flat leadership model which I like, you get to interact with executives in the organization. Our culture is also very feedback and transparent- leadership shares what they are working on and what will be coming down the pipe, its a honest environment where everyone is there to learn to gain insight. Very thankful for Miro, it has been such a positive change for me and my career.

Cons

Like with any new company, there are processes that need to be built out. Sometimes it is frustrating when there is not a process in place- but this is one of the biggest reasons I came to Miro. I wanted to be able to be a part of building something. Approvals take a very reasonable amount of time and the culture of Miro accepts change!
