Disjointed Leadership + No focus on Diversity!

Pros

Respectable benefits and great colleagues at the mid-manger and IC levels.

Cons

Leadership is less than stellar at the Senior level. Many senior leaders are disengaged and disconnected. Executive leadership is unorganized, in constant chaos and competing with one another. There's very little partnership to ensure the People of Miro are nurtured or supported from both personal and professional perspectives. In a recent event within the LGBTQ+ ERG, there was a homophobic slur with little to no recognition, action or condemnation of homophobia itself. This is very telling of the culture, lack thereof, and global centricity of this organization. The Senior Leadership team has yet to address any of the above for months now. Very sad and a complete disappointment.

Hi, thank you for your feedback as this helps us keep growing and improving Miro and its culture. To address the points you have raised, the Miro People team has gone through a transformation in the last 3 months and has been structured in a way to address the issues you have mentioned here. The Miro People team is committed to D&I and will be making it a key focus area as we continue iterating and building upon our Miro culture and the experience for all Mironeers. We have spent the last month researching, listening to feedback and investigating our D&I needs to determine the initiatives that can be properly rolled out. Best regards, The Miro team

Pros

Great colleagues, active attempts from people on the floor to create the best possible environment Product is ok and lots of good attention to end user needs & UX/Design

Cons

Senior Management has no idea how to run a company, let alone scale one fast. Some good people in middle management but serious problems at the top of the company. Heading towards command& control which will likely get worse now that the competition is getting serious after the pandemic. Hiring & recruitment is a trainwreck Software product but little to no value on quality engineering at scale, multiple layers of patchwork with no incentives to clean up. If anything a feature factory but badly run. Everything is important and urgent, which means nothing is. Growing rapidly but not managing those changes. Extremely bad at communicating, lacking most real information. Cheerleader culture. Nice values but not living up to them.

Poor accountability in leadership breads fearful and toxic culture

Pros

Brilliant product. The best in class for visual collaboration and the product team continues to release innovative updates for it. Most people are excellent. You will work with some of the smartest and most compassionate individuals around, and there is a desire amongst most of the team to collaborate. You'll have amazing opportunities to put your skills to use, regardless of job function, and chances to help the company build and iterate.

Cons

The majority of the leadership team appears to have zero clue how to run their teams, or how to get the most out of their employees. Exec Team are MIA most of the time, no introspection from C-Level members on why certain aspects of the company are going downhill or why objectives aren't being met. Middle managers show no accountability and flip issues around back onto employees instead of trying to better working conditions. Transparency has been diminishing over time, to the point of cliquey groups being formed, and preferential treatment being given to some employees. Most people are fearful of additional layoffs (the first round of layoffs were treated extremely poorly) and are now looking for new jobs. No attempts to stem the flow of diverse hires leaving the business because of an increasingly toxic culture toward minority communities. Internal promotion is a joke.
